Medical Interpreter Job Description

Austin Health seeks qualified medical interpreters to provide high-quality interpreting services for Mandarin and Cantonese speaking patients and staff. Interpreters will be responsible for maintaining accurate statistics of interpreting work undertaken, adhering to the standards of the Language Services Department as outlined in the Austin Interpreter Guidelines and Protocols.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NAATI Certification or Provisional certification with medical experience
  • Mandatory COVID-19 and flu vaccination requirements
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in working in a health service
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Able to work as part of a team
