Job Description:

This position offers the opportunity to collaborate with a world-class team in the development of advanced defence systems that contribute to Australia's security. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of a dynamic group responsible for assisting the engineering team with issues related to the VLF facility and its interfaces with mission systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the on-site VLF facility subject matter expert by providing mechanical system expertise
  • Conduct risk assessments of mechanical / structural hazards, regulatory compliance and propose solutions
  • Timely and effective communication of hazards, defects and design or maintenance deficiencies
  • Liaise with management on project engineering issues, design process and engineering change development and execute according to company and program procedures
  • Coordinate with mission partners, acting as a key technical liaison and ensuring that the facility is fully integrated into broader mission planning
  • Identify potential issues and areas for improvement within the VLF mission system
  • Participate in technical reviews and audits
  • Mentor engineering and technical staff

The role involves working in a fast-paced environment with opportunities to develop your skills and expertise. You will have the chance to contribute to the design, development and implementation of cutting-edge defence systems that make a real impact on Australia's security.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent degree with power generation or mechanical systems industry experience
  • Minimum of six years' experience in operational and/or in-service support phases of major programs, preferably in Defence technology and/or regional/remote power generation related industries
  • Understanding of systems engineering, engineering support, maintenance support, and technical documentation disciplines
  • Knowledge of product life cycle and experience with system performance metrics
  • Solid skills in relevant business and engineering applications
  • Candidate must be eligible to obtain an Australian defence security clearance
