Job Description:

We have an exciting casual position available to join our Student Support Services team.

As a Disability Coach, you will be responsible for providing practical support to students with disabilities.

You will contribute to building learner capability and confidence, ensuring high-quality learning outcomes and an inclusive training environment.

The position requires working from multiple campuses and reporting to the Manager Student Support Services.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualised coaching sessions and advocacy for learners as required.
  • Monitor subject operation and learner reactions, communicating information to the teacher and Student Support Services Co-ordinator.
  • Conduct coaching sessions directed by the Student Support Services Co-ordinator in consultation with the teacher.
  • Prepare and review instructional plans to meet changing learner needs.
  • Coordinate and maintain instructional records, managing resources and reporting problems to the Student Support Services Co-ordinator.
  • Meet regularly with the teacher and Student Support Services Co-ordinator to discuss issues related to learner disabilities.

The successful candidate will demonstrate proven ability in the following areas:

  • Demonstrated self-management, participative decision-making, team participation, and the ability to accept, promote, and manage change.
  • Demonstrated instructional effectiveness, including knowledge of contemporary disability practice, quality student interaction, and effective preparation.
  • Demonstrated promotion of inclusive delivery practice through course planning and development within the delivery team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-development, focusing on instructional skills, technology, and contemporary disability practices.
  • Application of knowledge and commitment to anti-discrimination legislation principles, particularly the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and relevant departmental policies.
