Job Description

The role of Environmental Health Officer is to protect community wellbeing by conducting audits of on-site sewage management systems, assessing their performance, and identifying potential risks to public health and the environment.

As a key member of Council's Public and Environmental Health section, you will provide expert support and guidance in the delivery of a wide range of environmental health services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct audits of on-site sewage management systems to assess their performance and identify potential risks to public health and the environment.
  • Provide expert support and guidance in the delivery of a wide range of environmental health services.
  • Collaborate with various community sectors to establish good rapport and deal with a broad range of customers and community representatives in a courteous and professional manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Tertiary qualifications in an environmental health / science related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in an environmental health related role with working knowledge of modern systems of on-site sewage management.
  • High-level communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to prepare environmental health reports and submissions.
  • Behaviour that positively demonstrates Council's values of: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
