Job Role: Counsellor - Alcohol & Other Drugs

The role will involve providing evidence-based psychosocial counselling and support to clients within the Common Ground AOD Hub. The goal is to facilitate recovery and rehabilitation from problematic drug and alcohol use.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver individual and group interventions to meet client needs
  • Develop and implement drug education programs to support clients
  • Provide assessment and case management advice as required
  • Participate in regular supervision sessions and complete assessments and psychometric tools as needed
  • Manage individualized consumer files and maintain accurate records of client interactions
  • Support program managers with evaluations and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives

Requirements for Success:

  • Degree or Diploma in Counselling with relevant experience and/or tertiary qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of mental health issues and/or AOD services
  • Proven ability to work with complex cases and manage multiple priorities
  • Sound understanding of organizational values and code of conduct
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills, including administrative capabilities
