About the Role

The Senior Portfolio Strategist is responsible for delivering valuable insights to inform long-term investment decisions and maintaining governance artefacts that underpin expenditure optimisation processes.

Main Responsibilities:

• SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT OF LONG-TERM CAPITAL AND OPERATING EXPENDITURE PLANS
• DEVELOPING A RANGE OF PORTFOLIO REPORTS AND ANALYTICS TO INFORM DECISION MAKING
• CARRYING OUT AD-HOC ANALYSIS TO DRAW MEANINGFUL INSIGHTS AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS
• MAINTAINING GOVERNANCE ARTIFACTS THAT UNDERPIN EXPENDITURE OPTIMISATION PROCESSES

This role will be based in Melbourne.

Key Responsibilities:

• SUPPORTING INVESTMENT OWNERS TO UPLOAD 10-YEAR FORECASTS FOR BOTH CAPITAL AND OPERATING EXPENDITURE INTO THE ASSET INVESTING PLANNING TOOL
• REVIEWING INVESTMENT PROJECTS/PROGRAMS AND VALIDATING BENEFIT STREAMS ARE APPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE VALUE FRAMEWORK
• ANALYSING FORECASTED PRICE AND VOLUME MOVEMENTS AGAINST HISTORICAL PERFORMANCE, EXPLAINING KEY VARIANCES, TRENDS, AND DRIVERS OF MOVEMENTS AGAINST PREVIOUS FORECASTS
• DEVELOPING AND MAINTAINING KEY ANALYTICAL REPORTS TO SUPPORT SCENARIO ANALYSIS AND REVIEW PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT OUTCOMES
• PRODUCING ANALYSIS OF PORTFOLIO DATA FROM A VARIETY OF SOURCES TO DRAW OUT INSIGHTS AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CORRECTIVE COURSES OF ACTION
• PRESENTATION OF DATA INTO CONCISE SETS OF TABLES AND GRAPHS SHOWING CLEAR TRENDING AND AREAS OF FOCUS
• SUPPORTING THE MAINTENANCE OF PROCESS DOCUMENTATION FOR THE PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT FRAMEWORK
• CONDUCTING ANALYSIS TO VALIDATE PROJECT COSTS AND BENEFITS THAT UNDERPIN THEIR ECONOMIC ASSESSMENT

Requirements:

• EXPERIENCE IN PORTFOLIO MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL INVESTMENT PRINCIPLES
• EXPERIENCE IN DEVELOPING LONG-TERM CAPITAL AND OPERATING EXPENDITURE BUDGETS AND FORECASTS
• EXPERIENCE WITHIN THE UTILITIES, MINING, CONSTRUCTION, PHARMACEUTICAL, TELECOMMUNICATIONS, NBN, OR CONSULTING INDUSTRY
• STRONG PRESENTATION AND STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT SKILLS
• TERTIARY QUALIFICATION IN BUSINESS, FINANCE, ENGINEERING, IT, OR RELEVANT DISCIPLINE
