Operational Leadership Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operational Leader to oversee the daily operations of our Townsville Distribution Centre. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving safety, operational performance, and team development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Safety First: Lead safety as a core value across the site, championing COR compliance, load restraint standards, and MHE safety.
  • Operational Excellence: Achieve cost, KPI, and service metrics through process optimisation and productivity enhancements.
  • Team Management: Lead a dynamic team with a focus on coaching, development, and performance, fostering a positive and learning-oriented culture.
  • Customer Engagement: Handle customer calls and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and 3PL transport providers.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to deliver best-possible operational and customer outcomes.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive robust continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, inventory accuracy, and warehouse efficiency.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Manage reporting, capital projects, and infrastructure upgrades, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.
About You:
  • Minimum of 5 years working in a Supply Chain, Warehouse and Distribution environment, running distribution centre in a leadership role.
  • Proven ability to manage both inbound and outbound logistics, reporting, compliance and project management of improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with WMS systems (SAP/ERP highly regarded), inventory control, and load planning.
  • Knowledge of 5S lean management, Chain of Responsibility (COR) and load restraint regulations.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, experienced in coaching and mentoring others to develop and get the best out of the team.
  • Highly effective planning and organisation skills, with strong time management and coordination skills, able to work autonomously as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to make quick decisions and build stakeholder and customer relationships.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, safety-focused, and bring a proactive solutions-oriented mindset to everything you do.
  • Must have a driver's licence and forklift licence to meet the requirements of the role.
