We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Specialist 3 - Disability Inclusion to join our team at Lalor East Primary School. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the school's Disability Inclusion initiatives and working closely with classroom teachers to ensure that students with disabilities receive the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the school's Disability Inclusion initiatives and develop strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Work closely with classroom teachers to provide professional learning and support to ensure that students with disabilities receive the support they need.
- Audit and adapt current school-wide inclusive education practices, including policies, processes, and programs.
- Coordinate Disability Inclusion profile meetings and support all necessary stakeholders through the process.
- Provide evidence-based professional learning to school staff relevant to the objectives of the role.
- Liaise with the school's Student Support Services key contact and Regional Disability Co-ordinator.
- Support students, parents, and school staff to contribute to Disability Inclusion profile meetings.
- Play a key role in supporting students with additional needs to make a smooth transition into the school.
- Provide leadership to students, parents, and school staff involved in creating and implementing high-quality Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for all students with a disability.
- Work collaboratively with the student wellbeing team to support students with disability to develop positive social skills, body safety, and resilience.
- Build staff capacity to understand and implement evidence-based teaching and learning strategies to support all student learning within their classroom.
- Act as a source of advice for staff on differentiated teaching strategies appropriate for individual students with additional needs.
- Lead the identification and collection of students to be included in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data to better understand the needs of students with disability.
- Make a significant contribution as a member of the school Leadership team to support the implementation of the Annual Implementation Plan and Student Support Program.
- Teachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.
