Job Title: Town Maintenance Officer

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing maintenance services for reserves, roads, drainage, reticulation systems, and other works within the town site and surrounding areas.

This role is focused on enhancing or modifying parks, sporting facilities, public open spaces, reserves, cemeteries, streets, and Shire amenities through various duties and projects.

  • Maintenance and construction projects encompass a range of activities including gardening duties such as mowing, fertilizing, planting, pruning, edging, reticulation maintenance, and weed control.
  • Operational fleet vehicles, trailers, and plant equipment are essential for carrying out maintenance requirements, with tasks including roadside preparation and maintenance, tree planting, litter removal, trimming, whipper snipping, tree and branch removal, and storm cleanup.
  • Key responsibilities also involve maintaining plant and equipment log books, completing end-of-day checks to ensure readiness for the next day, and ensuring tools, machinery, and workshop are maintained to a high standard.
  • Effective time management and communication skills are crucial in this role, as well as the ability to contribute to team planning and maintain high work productivity and quality outputs.
Requirements:
  • A relevant qualification in Civil Construction or Horticulture is required, along with a current Blue/White Construction Safety Card and unrestricted WA 'HR' Class Driver's Licence.
  • Demonstrated experience in safe equipment operation, outdoor work in East Kimberley conditions, good customer service, and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.
