Job Description

Border Express is seeking a highly motivated Cyber Security Officer to join our team on a full-time basis. The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the DevOps and Security Manager in developing and supporting best practice cyber security policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the IT environment security and access controls;
  • Recommend and develop information security policies and standards;
  • Develop Cyber-Attack response and recovery plans;
  • Report Cyber Security incidents per the Critical Infrastructure Act;
  • Provide specialist advice, support, and management of security systems, including intrusion detection and prevention systems and tools, password management, firewall and security appliances, email security systems, end-user devices, and network security;
  • Evaluate, assess, and recommend software and hardware solutions and initiatives to support and enhance IT Security;
  • Work on projects as directed by the Infrastructure Manager or CIO;
  • Monitor and respond to project-based work, ensuring adequate coverage of all required BAU tasks;
  • Identify, report, and implement appropriate security management and monitor compliance with security policy and protocols;
  • Analyze security system logs and data, look for vulnerabilities in IT systems, and remediate them;
  • Provide security guidance to all members of the ICT team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Personal interest and/or qualifications in Cyber Security;
  • Broad understanding of IT technology and cyber security principles (e.g., networking, system architecture, firewalls, and VPNs);
  • Exposure to cloud platforms;
  • Understanding of the Essential Eight Maturity Model;
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking ability;
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;
  • Willingness to learn and adapt;
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine interest in improving systems.
