Role Overview

Border Express currently has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated Cyber Security Officer to join the team at our Albury Branch on a fulltime basis.

The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting the DevOps And Security Manager by developing and supporting best practice cyber security policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee the Border Express IT environment security and access controls;
  • Recommend and develop information security policies and standards;
  • Develop Cyber-Attack response and recovery plans;
  • Reporting of Cyber Security incidents per the Critical Infrastructure Act;
  • Provide specialist advice, support and management of Border Express security systems, including intrusion detection and prevention systems and tools, password management, firewall and security appliances, email security systems, end-user devices and network security;
  • Evaluate, assess and recommend software and hardware solutions and initiatives to support and enhance Border Express IT Security;
  • Work on projects as directed by the Infrastructure Manager or CIO;
  • Monitor and respond to the demand of project-based work, ensuring there is adequate coverage of all required BAU tasks;
  • Identify, report and implement appropriate security management as well as monitor compliance with security policy and protocols;
  • Analyze security system logs and data, look for and remediate vulnerabilities in Border Express IT systems;
  • Provide security guidance to all members of the Border Express ICT team.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Personal interest and/or qualifications in Cyber Security;
  • Broad understanding of IT technology and cyber security principles (e.g., networking, system architecture, firewalls and VPNs);
  • Exposure to cloud platforms;
  • Understanding of the Essential Eight Maturity Model;
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking ability;
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to adjust to changing priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information;
  • Willingness to learn and adapt;
  • Positive and enthusiastic attitude with a genuine interest in improving Border Express's systems.
