Job Title: Road Maintenance Labourer

As a key member of our maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the upkeep and repair of our road network.

About the Role
  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance tasks on sealed roads, including operation of heavy plant and equipment.
  • Maintain Council's timber bridges and complete minor repairs to roads and culverts.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operate plant safely and effectively, including tandem tip trucks, tray trucks, and backhoe loaders.
  • Participate in manual labour tasks and mechanical/plant operated road and bridge works, including timber re-decking, handrail maintenance, pile and substructure repairs, road and culvert maintenance, and repairs.
  • Assist other teams with infrastructure-related work activities, if required, including manual labour tasks.
  • Provide basic guidance and support to team members allocated to projects/works, as needed.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience in operating heavy plant and equipment, and tools, including chain saws, pole saws, brush cutters, blowers, and other items of small plant.
  • Relevant manual labour experience, with certification desirable.
  • Able to work independently and prioritise tasks for self and small teams.
  • Delivery of construction and maintenance projects/works, with a focus on quality and safety.
  • Maintenance of accurate records to support OH&S, quality assurance, environmental accreditation, and other requirements.
  • Proficiency in computer software, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Availability to participate in after-hours callout roster.
