Improve Lives as a Program Lead

NASCA aims to build cultural connection, self-esteem and life skills for young Indigenous Australians. We have supported over 17,000 young people.

About The Role

This position plays a key role in connecting students to culture, building belonging and improving well-being through education and mentoring. As a Program Lead, you will work closely with NASCA students to develop life skills, career pathways and strengthen cultural identity.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver programs in schools including planning, coordination and implementation of projects.
  • Establish meaningful relationships with students, teachers and the local community.
  • Support First Nation students aged between 12-18 years through workshops, in-class tutoring and one-on-one mentoring.
  • Provide activities that include cooking, arts, leadership development, goal setting, job-ready skills and traditional games.
  • Organise physical activities, excursions and social events.
  • Facilitate opportunities for cultural exchange between community groups, NASCA and local schools.
  • Develop Personalised Learning Pathway Plans for NASCA students.
Requirements
  • Qualifications in teaching, social sciences, Indigenous studies or related fields.
  • Experience working with children and young adults, stakeholder engagement and relationship management.
  • Cross-cultural understanding and ability to work effectively in diverse environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and be proactive with high levels of autonomy.
A Typical Day As A Program Lead
  • Providing support to students in class.
  • Facilitating workshops and engaging with students.
  • Coordinating with school staff on student-specific needs.
  • Communicating with community members to plan events.
  • Brainstorming new ideas with colleagues to improve program delivery.
  • Collecting data to inform program improvements.
