Job Summary

As a key member of the Marriott International team, the Assistant Director of Engineering plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our facilities. This position is responsible for assisting the department head in managing the budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation. The successful candidate will be accountable for maintaining the building and grounds, with a focus on safety, security, and asset protection.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supporting Department Operations
  • Assist in planning, scheduling, and evaluating preventative maintenance programs.
  • Help establish priorities for total property maintenance needs.
  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of Engineering.
Maintaining Engineering Standards
  • Ensure necessary permits and licenses for building and physical plant are obtained and kept current.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all Engineering departmental policies, standards, and procedures.
Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service
  • Display leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent customer service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Interact with guests to obtain feedback on product quality and service levels.
Conducting Human Resources Activities
  • Supervise staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs, and financial objectives are met.
  • Help train employees in safety procedures.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with 4 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related field. Technical training in HVAC-R, electrical, and plumbing is also required. Alternatively, a 2-year degree from an accredited university in Building and Construction, Engineering, Mechanics, or a related major, with 2 years of experience in engineering and maintenance or a related field, is also acceptable.
