Cochlear Limited, a global leader in implantable hearing solutions, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our Process Engineering team in Brisbane, Australia.

Job Summary:

We are offering a challenging 18-month fixed-term contract opportunity for a skilled Project Engineer to contribute to the Manufacturing Network Optimization (MNO) strategy. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver project objectives, enhancing site capacity and capability to meet business goals.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Execute MNO projects by relocating or duplicating processes across the manufacturing network, aligning with project objectives, timelines, and targets.
  • Deliver small projects or components of complex technical projects with minimal supervision, focusing on short-term business objectives.
  • Organize and coordinate project activities according to functional guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison between the Project Manager and technical aspects of the project, ensuring seamless coordination with various teams, including Manufacturing, Engineering, Procurement, Facilities, and Contractors.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and updates.
  • Maintain project technical documentation and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Cochlear's Quality Management System (QMS) for manufacturing processes and facility documentation.
  • Regularly communicate project updates and status to stakeholders outside the function.
  • Elevate issues requiring decisions beyond short- to mid-term timeframes.

About You

To succeed in this role, you should possess:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Biomedical, or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 1-4 years of experience in an engineering-related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage small or parts of complex technical projects to completion.
  • Proven experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve project deliverables.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Project management experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience in process development roles and/or executing facility validation activities within highly regulated industries (Medical Devices and/or Electronics Manufacturing) is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is advantageous.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $85,000 - $110,000 AUD, commensurate with experience, plus benefits and opportunities for career growth.
