The ideal candidate will have a strong background in social entrepreneurship, community development, or Aboriginal affairs. They will possess excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and drive partnerships and funding.

This is a unique opportunity to lead an organization from its early stages, shaping its future direction and impact. The successful candidate will work closely with the Board of Directors, management team, and stakeholders to ensure Gulaay's long-term success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership & Strategy
    1. Develop and implement strategic plans for sustainability and expansion.
    2. Guide Gulaay's growth and ensure alignment with its mission and values.
    3. Support the development of policies, procedures, and financial planning frameworks.
  2. Partnerships & Fundraising
    1. Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including grants, sponsorships, and partnerships.
    2. Explore social enterprise models to generate revenue and long-term sustainability.
  3. Community Engagement
    1. Build strong relationships with the local Aboriginal community, government agencies, corporate partners, and community organizations.
    2. Represent Gulaay at meetings, forums, and events to promote its mission and secure support.
  4. Operations
    1. Support recruitment and coordination of volunteers and future staff.

We're Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has a proven track record of leadership and management in social enterprises, Aboriginal organizations, or community development.
  • Is passionate about Aboriginal economic empowerment and social change.
  • Has business acumen, particularly in fundraising, grant applications, or enterprise development.
  • Can effectively engage with stakeholders (government, business, community groups) to drive partnerships and funding.
  • Is adaptable and proactive, willing to build from the ground up.
  • Has strong communication, governance, and financial planning skills.

Experience in business development, grant writing, or managing start-up initiatives will be highly regarded.
