Job Opportunity

A dynamic and meaningful role has emerged for a passionate Indigenous mental health professional to lead and deliver culturally safe and responsive wellbeing services in a tertiary education setting.

This position is ideal for someone committed to improving mental health outcomes, fostering cultural safety, and supporting student success through therapeutic counselling, case management, and health promotion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver an Indigenous Student Wellbeing Program with a focus on cultural responsiveness.
  • Provide individual and group counselling, case coordination, and advocacy that respects the diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Collaborate with Indigenous student support services and internal stakeholders to ensure holistic care and support.
  • Establish referral pathways with external community agencies to enhance service delivery.
  • Contribute to health promotion, training, and wellbeing initiatives across multiple campuses to foster a culture of inclusivity and respect.
About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • Qualifications in Psychology, Social Work or a related field, with current registration (AHPRA for psychologists or AASW for social workers).
  • Demonstrated experience providing culturally responsive counselling to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience supporting clients with complex psychosocial needs in high-demand environments.
  • A commitment to cultural safety, continuous learning, and inclusive practice.
  • Valid Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain).
