The role of the Employment Mentor is to support job seeker clients who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, addressing barriers to employment and helping them achieve their career goals. The successful candidate will require a strong understanding of the local Aboriginal community, as well as experience working with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders and the challenges they face.
This position involves providing comprehensive job seeker assessments and preparing individual career or job plans. The incumbent will be responsible for motivating clients, advocating and negotiating on their behalf, and developing innovative job seeker focused solutions to gain employment.
- Develop and implement strategies to address/overcome barriers to employment
- Provide comprehensive job seeker assessments and prepare individual career or job plans

To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the local Aboriginal community
- Some case management or client liaison experience, including work with Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders
- A current valid Driver Licence for NSW
- A current Working With Children Check (Employee) for NSW
- A working knowledge and understanding of employment support services, specifically for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander cohort
- Demonstrated knowledge of current labour market trends
- A demonstrated record of success in placement of job seekers into employment or experience in a similar role
Additional requirements include:
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills
- Strong time management, organisational and computer skills
- Positive values of integrity, reliability, teamwork and professionalism consistent with our organisation's vision
