
Indigenous Student Support Specialist

The Aboriginal Education Officer plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Indigenous students.
The position acts as a liaison between the school and community, working closely with teachers, students and families to develop culturally relevant educational programs that empower Indigenous students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:- Mentoring and pastoral care for Indigenous students, particularly those at risk, to encourage participation and achievement in the classroom.
- Collaborating with teachers and families to develop culturally relevant educational programs.
- Working with the local Indigenous community to shape school policies and programs.
- Conducting home visits to discuss academic progress and social development of students.
- Providing orientation to staff about the Indigenous community and its needs.
Eligibility and Requirements
- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start.
- Consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
