As a qualified assistant freight train driver, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of goods across New South Wales and Victoria.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with freight haulage tasks by following established procedures and protocols
- Prepare and provision locomotives and wagons for train operations by adhering to company standards and guidelines
- Perform minor fault repairs and failure rectifications in-field
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks and assist rolling-stock maintainers to validate the integrity of rolling stock, ensuring all operational systems are safe and effective
- Maintain a professional demeanor with a strong customer and safety focus
- Certificate IV Rail Operations with documented evidence of successfully attained units of competence
- Current or previous NSW Safeworking Qualifications
- Evidence of route qualifications or relevant experience
- Category 1 Rail Safety Workers Medical certification or willingness to obtain it
- Current National Police Check or willingness to obtain one
- High level of literacy, numeracy, and comprehension skills
- Commitment to a safety culture and a customer-focused attitude
- Professionalism, integrity, reliability, and a positive mindset
This role involves frequent remote working away from a home depot, with varying rostering requirements, including weekends and shift work.
