About the Role:

Job Description

We are seeking a seasoned Engineering Team Lead to spearhead our software delivery team. As a key member of our engineering leadership group, you will be responsible for leading a high-performing team of engineers who collaborate to build and deliver top-notch tooling.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the delivery pipeline flows smoothly, predictably, and sustainably. You will also be responsible for fostering an environment that encourages innovation, experimentation, and learning through failure.

You will work closely with other teams to deliver high-quality software while supporting your direct reports in growing and delivering customer value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading a team of engineers and supporting their growth, engagement, and development
  • Ensuring accurate, fit-for-purpose, and sustainable delivery systems exist within the team
  • Facilitating an engineering approach that adheres to Xero's standards and fosters excellent engineering practices
Requirements:
  • Experience managing software delivery and/or other teams using Lean-Agile techniques
  • Excellent grasp of modern software delivery practices and life cycle
  • Proven ability to balance individual needs with business requirements
  • Experience building high-performing teams who are innovative, experimental, and learn through failure
  • A software or infrastructure background, and a basic understanding of modern CI/CD practices
