Senior Environmental Consultant Job Description

The Role

We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Environmental Consultant to manage our NSW team of environmental scientists and ecologists. This role has a focus on:

  • Managing a small team of environmental scientists and ecologists, including team management, mentoring, and guidance to junior members.
  • Supporting our Technical lead.
  • Leading terrestrial and riparian ecological field investigations, report preparation, and biodiversity assessments, as well as broader environmental investigations and impact assessments.
  • Providing advice and technical input on various Environmental Impact Assessments under NSW and Commonwealth Environmental Legislation, including SEEs, REFs, PEAs, and EIAs.
  • Managing your own projects, including signing off on reports produced by junior team members.
  • Liaising and consulting with clients across NSW and nationally, and planning and undertaking business development.
  • Preparing proposals and input for tenders in NSW and nationally.
Your Background

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced Senior or Principal level Environmental Consultant based in or close to our office at Parramatta. You should demonstrate people leadership and management skills and have experience working in a consulting environment.

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science and/or ecology are essential.
  • BAM accreditation is highly desirable but not essential. Eligibility and willingness to obtain certification are preferred.
  • Sound experience with Sydney Basin ecology and undertaking ecological survey in the vegetation communities of NSW is required.
  • At least 8 years' experience in environmental impact assessments & approvals within a consulting environment (we are looking for a Senior or Principal level person).
  • Thorough knowledge of the NSW Environmental Planning & Assessment Act & related legislation is essential.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Project management and budgeting skills are necessary.
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership experience, specifically managing day-to-day running of small teams.
  • Unrestricted work rights in Australia are mandatory.
