As a Biosecurity Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting Australia's agricultural industries and trade from biosecurity risks. This exciting opportunity is part of the Department's efforts to enhance our economic prosperity and food security.

The successful applicant will be responsible for performing a range of screening, inspection, and assurance related activities associated with international travellers, mail, and cargo. This includes assessing documentation to confirm compliance with Australia's biosecurity requirements, managing non-compliant goods, and providing timely and accurate advice on biosecurity matters.

  • Managing, modelling, and monitoring compliance with appropriate standards of behaviour in line with departmental expectations">
  • Promoting and complying with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and guidelines">

Training and Development:

The successful applicant will be required to complete the Department's Biosecurity Foundation Program, which includes a 2-week period at the Biosecurity Training Centre located in Wagga Wagga, NSW. The training will cover key areas of biosecurity, including legislation, policy, and procedures.

Eligibility and Other Requirements:

The successful applicant must hold and maintain a valid Australian motor vehicle drivers licence and wear an official uniform supplied by the Department during field operations. They must also comply with departmental Work Health & Safety policies and procedures.
