Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Technical Resources. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing discipline-specific engineering services, including preparing detailed design deliverables, reviewing mechanical vendor data, and ensuring project scope is clear.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Prepare detailed design deliverables, including datasheets, specifications, scope of supply, technical bid evaluations, drawings, specifications, calculations, and reports.
  2. Vendor Management: Review mechanical vendor data and drawings to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  3. Project Coordination: Ensure the project scope is clear and identify changes to scope as required in line with project change management processes.
  4. Technical Support: Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses, and recommended actions.
  5. Communication: Participate in relevant meetings, following required checking procedures, and communicate effectively within the discipline team, with clients, and other project stakeholders.
  6. Equipment Evaluation: Technically evaluate vendor equipment supply proposals.
  7. Problem-Solving: Identify issues and problems; develop appropriate and innovative solutions and ask for assistance if required.
  8. Professional Development: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments and technical innovations in the discipline.
  9. Brownfield Support: Provide engineering support to brownfield projects' construction/commissioning phases.
  10. HS&E Commitment: Actively participate in the personal HS&E performance commitment.
  11. Documentation: Ensure technically sound, fit-for-purpose solutions are developed and documented.
  12. Knowledge and Skills: Understand piping and pipe supports and the interfaces with mechanical equipment, and have knowledge of the fundamental requirements of the discipline, including Brownfields Engineering, Greenfields Engineering, and Equipment layout.
  13. Software Proficiency: Competent in the use of relevant software such as MS Office Suite and discipline-specific software including Navisworks, Bluebeam / Adobe Suite, Aconex, and Maximo.
  14. Interpersonal Skills: Highly effective people skills such as team, interpersonal, and mentoring skills, including the ability to manage time and priorities.
  15. Integrity and Accountability: A person of integrity who is trusted by others and consistently honors their commitments.
  16. Decision-Making: Able to identify issues, problems, and opportunities; make timely decisions; develop appropriate and innovative solutions; and ask for assistance if required.

Requirements
  1. Education: Mechanical Engineering degree from a recognised university, with relevant experience.
  2. Registration: Registered as a Mechanical Engineer with Engineers Australia.
  3. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups and make presentations when required.
  4. Experience: Experience with pressure equipment design standards; ASME and Australian standards, including Australian requirements for verification and registration is preferred.
  5. API Standards: Experience working with API standards for mechanical equipment.
  6. Brownfield Experience: Previous experience with brownfield projects is preferred.
  7. Technical and Practical Experience: Technical and practical experience in the Mechanical & Piping disciplines.
  8. HS&E Commitment: Demonstrate behaviour and business practices commensurate with a culture of world's best health, safety, and environmental performance.
