Accessible Format Specialist Role

The organization is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to produce student learning materials in accessible formats, including braille, large print, audio, and e-text.

This role requires strong organisational and administrative skills, as well as proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software. The successful applicant will have experience in transcribing student learning materials using contracted braille codes and braille translation software, and will be committed to ongoing professional learning to further develop their skills and expertise.

In this fast-paced environment, you will work collaboratively with experienced professionals to meet deadlines and produce high-quality materials. This is an opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of students who are blind or partially sighted.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Production of student learning materials in accessible formats
  • Operation of equipment such as photocopiers, stereo-copiers, thermo-form machines, scanners, braille embossers, and cutters
  • Liaising with teachers and school personnel to determine work requirements
  • Maintenance of accurate records

Selective Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to transcribe student learning materials using contracted braille codes
  • Highly developed organisational and administrative skills
  • Commitment to working as a supportive team member
  • Highly developed technology skills, including proficient keyboard skills and competency in using Microsoft Office and other software
