Leadership Opportunity in Pathology

NSW Health is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Medical Laboratory Scientist to lead a team that strives for excellence. The successful candidate will oversee the operation of the Special Chemistry section, ensuring high-quality diagnostic services in support of patient care.


This key role involves overseeing the quality, cost, and operational integrity of the department, regulatory compliance, and accreditation of laboratory services. The position requires strong managerial skills, with experience in laboratory operations, administration, and budgeting.


Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the management of scientific, technical, and support staff
  • Ensure high-quality diagnostic services through effective leadership and management
  • Develop and implement new mass spectrometry assays

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree or higher degree in Science/Medical Laboratory Science or an equivalent qualification
  • Customer-focused approach displaying well-developed interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of pathology laboratory information systems
  • Extensive high-level knowledge of working within the relevant section of the laboratory
