Job Role Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled professional to join our team as a Drainage and Development Specialist on a 3-month temporary contract.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive drainage designs in accordance with relevant standards to support the delivery of Council's Capital Works Program.
  • Investigate and review customer enquiries related to drainage and flooding concerns within the municipality, ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Lead the development and implementation of strategic plans and studies for improved drainage outcomes, fostering collaborative environments and customer-focused approaches.
  • Implement Integrated Water Management principles into new developments and assist in integrating these principles into Council's capital works projects.
  • Conduct thorough investigations, reviews, and strategies for drainage and development-related issues, adhering to relevant legislation guidelines and standards.
  • Work closely with operational departments to provide a high-functioning drainage network and deliver high-quality development outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience
  • A tertiary engineering qualification in drainage and design management is essential, preferably within the community infrastructure setting.
  • Membership or eligibility for membership with the Institution of Engineers Australia or equivalent is required.
  • Strong knowledge of drainage and integrated water management, including applicable legislation, guidelines, and standards is necessary.
  • Minimum 2+ years' experience in local government, ideally in a drainage management role, is expected.
  • Demonstrated skills in community consultation and liaison, with a focus on customer satisfaction, are also desirable.
