About the Branch:
We deliver insights, solutions and advice to drive scheme operations and position us as a modern, efficient and effective regulator.
Our objectives include providing advice on complex scheme implementation & design issues, influencing new schemes or policies, supporting our Chief Data Officer, and increasing confidence in carbon and renewable energy markets.
About the Section:
We support the agency to unlock the potential of data to drive innovation and compliance for us.
This includes delivering the Data and Reporting Strategy, improving data transparency, promoting sharing of scheme data, and building analytics capability.
The APS Level 5 Data Analyst contributes to the development and delivery of data analytics solutions that inform strategic and operational decision-making across the agency.
The role is ideal for someone with foundational experience in data analytics or engineering who wants to grow their technical skills and contribute to meaningful public sector outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- We develop and maintain data pipelines, ETL processes, and dashboards using Python, R, SQL, and Power BI
- We support data preparation, cleaning, and transformation for analysis and reporting
- We contribute to the development of data products and visualisations
- We work with senior team members to understand stakeholder needs and translate them into technical tasks
- We document processes, data sources, and technical specifications to support transparency and reusability
- We participate in agile delivery practices and engage in continuous learning and development
Qualifications/Experience:
- Foundational experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a related field
- Proficiency in one or more analytics tools or languages
- Understanding of data management principles, including data quality, governance, and security
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
