Join a dynamic team as we seek a Full Time Instrument Chemist to join our high-performing laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for a variety of laboratory tasks, including sample receipt and processing, in a fast-paced environment where precision and efficiency are essential.
The role involves ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with quality procedures, supervision and training of laboratory staff, prioritising daily workload, operation and maintenance of instrumentation, reporting of results in accordance with quality work instructions, ensuring compliance with the laboratory's QC and HSE requirements, preparing standards for sample analysis, and maintaining relevant documentation.
Key Responsibilities- Ensuring all activities are conducted in accordance with quality procedures manual
- Supervision and training of laboratory staff
- Prioritising daily workload
- Operation and maintenance of instrumentation
- Reporting of results in accordance with quality work instructions
- Ensuring compliance with the laboratory's QC and HSE requirements
- Preparing standards for sample analysis
- Maintaining relevant documentation
- Excellent attention to detail, communications and organisational skills in a fast-paced work environment.
- At least 2 years' experience in a commercial laboratory
- Previous experience operating with GC/FID, GCMS or LCMSMS required
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent (Honours and Chemistry disciplines advantageous)
- Competent in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- A working knowledge of organic sample preparation techniques for environmental samples
- Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team
- Interest in method development, verification and validation
- A working knowledge of lab safety requirements
- Ability to work under pressure in a team environment
