Job Overview
  • In this key role, you will oversee the development, validation and implementation of scientific protocols, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  • This position involves strategic planning, resource management and leadership to drive laboratory excellence in support of clinical needs.
Key Responsibilities
  • You will be responsible for managing departmental budgets and financial performance.
  • Monitor and report on monthly financial outcomes.
  • Develop and implement an annual business plan for the department.
  • Lead employee performance management within the department.
  • Evaluate and ensure compliance with WHS regulations.
  • Guarantee all work practices align with NATA/TGA/NPACC standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry advancements in equipment and scientific literature, communicating significant findings.

To succeed in this position, you'll have experience in driving continuous improvement and innovation in laboratory practices as a scientist leader.

Requirements
  • A suitable tertiary qualification in Science or biomedical science is preferred.
  • You'll need at least 6 years of experience working in a highly automated laboratory environment.
  • Experience with staff training and supervision is essential.
  • Familiarity with multiple instrument platforms is required.
  • You should have sound experience with laboratory-based analytical tasks, method validation and verification, as well as clinical result validation and interpretation.
  • Knowledge of current Australian standards relating to NPAAC, NATA, and TGA is necessary.
  • Solid grounding in pathology-based IT and quality systems is expected.
  • Exceptional communication and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Your ability to travel interstate is essential.
