Job Description:

The role of a Horticulturist is to work in maintaining and improving parks, gardens, and other landscaped areas. This position involves working as part of a team that focuses on enhancing the aesthetic appeal of these spaces.

Some of the key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Maintaining gardens including annuals, native, and non-native plants in accordance with service requirements.
  • Providing recommendations for mulching, watering, maintenance, embellishment, and improvement.
  • Developing skills and training staff on gardening techniques.
  • Identifying and reporting landscape deficiencies, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Providing advice and assistance to management, staff, customers, and the community.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need to have relevant tertiary qualifications in horticulture or a similar field. Additionally, you will require a current Class C Drivers Licence and Chemical Users Accreditation Certificate or equivalent.

Experience in garden maintenance is also highly desirable.
