Job Opportunity:

We are seeking a talented Visual Communications Specialist to join our team in Canberra. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating presentation visuals and infographics that effectively communicate complex information to leaders and technical staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong visual communication skills, including the ability to communicate technical information graphically to non-technical audiences. They will also have experience in typesetting and UI/UX design using Adobe Creative Suite software and Microsoft products.

The role involves working collaboratively on projects, providing expert creative advice to ensure high design standards across key projects. The successful candidate will also need to ensure that any materials produced meet the requirements of the Department's visual style guide and are consistent with branding guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop visual communications products that distill complex written information into effective graphical representations
  • Work as a member of a team to design materials for multiple channels
  • Provide expert creative advice to ensure high design standards
  • Ensure materials comply with accessibility guidelines and Digital Transformation Agency recommendations
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships internally and externally

Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Experience in typesetting and UI/UX design using Adobe Creative Suite software
  • Exceptional visual communication skills
  • Project management support skills, including time management and attention to detail

Desirable Criteria:

  • Understanding of the Australian Government's Digital Service Standard or the UK Design Council's Double Diamond Model
  • Qualifications in graphic or visual design or another related field
  • Versatility across user experience practices

Note: You must be an Australian citizen and hold a minimum baseline security clearance.
