Job Overview

As an Environmental Risk Specialist, you will lead and deliver high-level risk assessments across Australia. You will be responsible for mentoring the team and guiding clients through regulatory and scientific challenges related to contaminated sites.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will deliver detailed human health and ecological risk assessments for contaminated sites, utilizing your technical knowledge of NEPM, CRC CARE, enHealth, and relevant state-based frameworks.
  • Develop Conceptual Site Models (CSMs) and exposure assessments to inform health/ecological risks.
  • Interpret toxicological, site, and exposure data to ensure accurate risk assessments.
  • Review or prepare site-specific risk-based criteria to support informed decision-making.
  • Advise clients, auditors, and regulators on site management strategies, providing confidence in their ability to mitigate risks.
  • Support business development and proposal writing efforts.
  • Mentor and train emerging risk assessors within the team, promoting a collaborative mindset and genuine interest in mentoring others.
Requirements
  • You must hold a degree in Environmental Science, Toxicology, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or a similar field.
  • A minimum of 8+ years of experience in risk assessment roles, preferably in consulting or regulation, is required.
  • Strong technical knowledge of NEPM, CRC CARE, enHealth, and relevant state-based frameworks is essential.
  • Experience working on complex industrial or contaminated land sites is highly desirable.
  • Confidence in working with multidisciplinary teams and clients is necessary.
  • A collaborative mindset and genuine interest in mentoring others are vital.
