Horticulturist - Gardening and Grounds Maintenance

We are seeking an experienced and motivated horticulturist to join our team at the zoo. The successful individual will provide general gardening and grounds maintenance duties, including floral displays, landscape maintenance, turf care, and animal exhibit plant maintenance.
Key responsibilities include performing basic tasks associated with horticulture and gardening works under direction from horticulturalists within grounds, exhibits, and off-site locations.
- Undertake general duties as assigned, including the maintenance of allocated grounds and exhibits. Duties may include weeding, pruning, mulching, watering, hedge trimming, and lawn maintenance.
- Collect and process browse for essential animal nutrition and upkeep of browse plantations under direction from the Horticulturalist and/or Manager, Horticulture.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in gardening, grounds maintenance, or browse collection.
- A current NSW Driver's License.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment (expenses covered by Taronga).
- An obtainable and maintainable current paid NSW Working with Children Check at own expense.
