Our organization is seeking an experienced culinary professional to join our team at the Client4 Seeds Café in Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment at all times.
- Instruct and train culinary staff in food preparation, presentation, and cooking techniques.
- Develop production schedules and manage staff resources for efficient service delivery.
- Evaluate supply needs and coordinate purchasing activities.
- Cook and prepare menu items using various cooking methods.
- Create menu items with consideration of nutritional value and food safety principles.
- Inspect food products for quality and conformance to standards.
- Operate electrical equipment safely and efficiently.
- Implement food handling, personal hygiene, and sanitation practices.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness of supplies, equipment, and work areas.
- Purchase and requisition necessary food and supplies.
- Recruit and supervise culinary staff, including cooks and kitchen workers.
Requirements:
- A certificate or diploma in commercial cookery or hospitality management, or equivalent qualification.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience as a chef in a commercial kitchen setting.
- Experience in menu planning and new dish development (at least 2 years).
- Knowledge of dietary and nutritional planning principles (at least 2 years).
- Commercial experience operating grills and cooking equipment (at least 2 years).
- Passion for delivering high-quality dishes and presentation.
- Understanding of food safety principles and commitment to safe food handling practices.
- Leadership skills in managing a kitchen team and training staff.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Skills in inventory control and cost management.
- Efficient time management and organizational skills.
