The Opportunity:

As a leading manufacturer of food cans, Visy is seeking a skilled Manufacturing Manager to oversee the effective utilization and coordination of manufacturing resources. This includes raw materials, labor, and production and maintenance facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Champion safety awareness and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental policies and quality systems.
  • Lead the team to achieve objectives related to labor utilization, compliance with employment agreements, payroll activities, safety, staff development, performance reviews, continuous improvement initiatives, housekeeping, production, service, quality, and cost control.
  • Actively participate in quality system audits, build effective relationships with customers to ensure client satisfaction, and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to meet quality and supply chain goals.
  • Develop and implement production and maintenance plans, maintain performance reports, and manage the introduction of new stock-keeping units into the work area.
  • Monitor and control production and maintenance outputs, weekly key performance indicators, and labor costs. Ensure a thorough understanding of profit and loss statements and participate actively in the budgeting process.

Requirements:

  • Extensive people management experience within a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and SAP, with additional advantage if experienced with maintenance systems.
  • A collaborative, hands-on approach and the natural ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Engineering or production qualifications and/or experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Strong financial aptitude, particularly in production budgeting (labor and spoilage).
