Support Worker Role

About Us:

We deliver high-quality mental health services, specializing in working with adults and young people, as well as early childhood intervention.

Our goal is to provide quality support and services to young people with mental health issues who live in residential settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide quality support and services to young people with mental health issues who live in residential settings.
  • Work collaboratively with young people in their recovery journey.
  • Offer client-focused, community-oriented, and sensitive support.
  • Assist young people with mental health issues to develop and maintain relationships, which facilitate independence.
  • Help young people with mental health issues improve their daily living skills through guidance, supervision, and encouragement.
  • Mentor and act as role models for young people in building positive social skills, using effective conflict management and negotiation, and building healthy relationships.
  • Encourage and educate young people on healthy living habits to support their emotional wellbeing and the growth of self-esteem, self-worth, and self-confidence.

Requirements:

  • A minimum qualification of a Cert IV in Mental Health/Community Services or another related discipline is required (ideally, a completed Diploma or Bachelors).
  • Experience working with young people experiencing mental health issues, such as in a Youth Worker, or equivalent position is necessary.
  • The ability to relate to young people, their families/carers, and other stakeholders with dignity and respect is essential.
  • Ability to assess risk and follow relevant protocols to manage crisis situations calmly and effectively is required.
  • Effective listening and communication skills in both written and verbal formats are necessary.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the principles of duty of care, and rights to privacy and confidentiality is required.
  • Ability to help program participants link in with other relevant community resources and to promote the rights, responsibilities, and recovery of young people is essential.
  • Availability for overnight shifts is required.
  • Rotating 24/7 roster is necessary.
  • Eligibility to apply/currently hold a Blue Card is required.
  • Current Driver's license is necessary.
