Job Title: Urban Planning Specialist

Role Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Urban Planning Specialist to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality professional advice relating to land use, development capability, due diligence assessments, the approval process, and management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing Statement of Environmental Effects for Development Applications and Planning Proposals
  • Responding efficiently and clearly to internal and external consultants, communicating in a concise and transparent manner, both verbally and written
  • Working independently alongside other professionals on a range of multi-disciplinary projects, working to deadlines, with a commercial outcome
  • Negotiating outcomes and representing clients at meetings, including public meetings
  • Supporting Directors and Planning Managers in maintaining new and existing relationships with clients
  • Providing input into tenders and preparing Fee Proposals for projects
  • Carrying out research, including site inspections and other data gathering and analysis activities

Essential Criteria:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning or a related discipline
  • Experience in statutory or strategic planning gained in a consultancy or local government environment
  • Able to prioritise the competing demands of multiple projects within the agreed timeframe
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills and engagement with a variety of stakeholders
  • An appreciation and understanding of impacts and issues affecting land use and development
  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Teams
  • Experience with Nearmaps
