Regulatory Specialist

As a key member of our advisory team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Australia's energy infrastructure.

This opportunity is focused on economic regulation, policy reform, and sustainability within the energy and utilities sector. You will work closely with government, industry, and investors to develop regulatory frameworks and support strategic decision-making across electricity networks and other regulated utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and contribute to projects involving network regulation, pricing, and performance analysis
  • Advise on regulatory resets, investment strategy, and compliance under national energy rules and regulations
  • Deliver financial and economic analysis, including revenue modelling, WACC estimation, and forecasting
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on clients and stakeholders
  • Engage with stakeholders across industry, government, and regulatory bodies to shape regulatory frameworks
  • Support reform initiatives and regulatory submissions
  • Mentor junior team members and contribute to capability development

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years' experience in economic regulation, preferably within consulting, a regulatory agency, or a utility company
  • Strong understanding of electricity transmission and distribution frameworks, including relevant legislation and policies
  • Skilled in financial modelling tools such as PTRM and scenario analysis
  • Familiarity with the National Electricity Market and relevant regulatory requirements
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Degree in Economics, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline
