Leadership Role in Energy Regulation

This is a high-impact leadership role within the energy sector, focusing on the regulation of gas and electricity markets in Australia.

About The Position
  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to support the development and execution of the organisation's strategic plan and corporate objectives.
  • Develop and manage the operational framework to ensure activities are conducted within approved parameters and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Lead and empower the senior leadership team, assigning clear responsibilities, supervising performance, and fostering a high-performing culture.
  • Maintain regular contact with stakeholders to ensure timely communication of developments that may require action at a senior level.
  • Oversee strategic planning, identifying objectives and strategies required to achieve the organisation's approved strategic plan.
  • Recommend significant operational changes as required, ensuring responsiveness to emerging challenges and opportunities.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and clear information is provided to stakeholders, enabling effective governance and decision-making.
  • Implement board-approved policies, processes, and codes, ensuring alignment with broader governance frameworks.
  • Instil and reinforce the organisation's purpose and values, promoting ethical behaviour, innovation, and excellence.
  • Represent the organisation externally, providing a strong and credible presence in engagements with senior government officials, industry leaders, and consumer groups.
Key Selection Criteria
  • Executive-level management experience and a proven track record of leadership within a dynamic, complex, and multifaceted environment.
  • Understanding of the operations of governments and regulators.
  • Knowledge of Australian energy markets and the role, purpose, and objectives of the regulating body.
  • Proven ability to manage performance against budget, organisational and cultural change, operational risk, and lead innovation.
  • Tertiary qualifications in law, economics/commerce, engineering, public policy, or related fields.
