Project Overview

The Sydney Metro West project is a significant undertaking in the Australian infrastructure sector, involving the construction of 9 kilometres of twin metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park.

As part of this consortium, our team is responsible for delivering complex tunnelling and engineering projects. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Tunnelling Project Manager to join our team.

This role demands a strong understanding of contract law, financial management, and risk assessment within the civil engineering sector.

We offer competitive salaries, ranging from AUD $140,000 to AUD $180,000 per annum, depending on experience.

About the Role
  • Developing and managing project forecasts, monitoring expenditures, and implementing cost control measures to ensure financial targets are met.
  • Management of contractor disputes. Working closely with the finance team to prepare month-end whole of project forecasts and financial reports.
  • Mentoring the Commercial Team on industry best practices and encouraging staff to develop their current skillset. Implementing effective cost control processes and practices.
  • Evaluation of variation claims prepared by the commercial team prior to issuing assessments for review and approval under the delegation of authority.
  • Managing compliance and preparing reports on commercial performance of the project.
  • Working knowledge of the common law, state and federal regulations, and statutes as it relates to commercial issues. Providing strategic guidance to project teams, fostering a collaborative and legally sound environment.
About You
  • Degree in Law, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or Business-related degree.
  • Minimum 10 years' commercial/contract management experience in major large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Strong understanding of principles of contract management, experience of contract management, and stakeholder engagement with practical experience.
  • Previous major project Joint Venture experience is desirable. Strong understanding of principles of contract management, experience of contract management, and stakeholder engagement with practical experience.
  • Estimating, quantity survey, procurement, and contracts management.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Word. Well-honed and able to manage competing deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders.
About the Project

Construction includes the delivery of 9 kilometres of twin, metro rail tunnels between Westmead and Sydney Olympic Park; excavation of new station boxes at Westmead and Parramatta; earthworks, utilities, and connecting tunnels for a Maintenance and Stabling Facility at Clyde; a precast concrete segment factory at Eastern Creek; and a services facility, crossover structure, and excavation to support tunnelling operations at Rosehill.
