Job Title: Governance, Information Management and Compliance Specialist

This senior leadership role involves overseeing governance, information management and compliance practices within an organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a high-performing team in governance, integrity and information management to uphold organisational standards and ensure strategic direction.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory obligations under key legislation, including timely production of quarterly reporting against the Council Plan and LG Performance Reporting Framework.
  • Develop and implement governance and information management policies that align with organisational objectives.
  • Manage council agendas, minutes and reports with high compliance standards, as well as oversee council meetings, citizenship ceremonies and junior council programs.
  • Act as Information Privacy Officer, overseeing training, monitoring and policy development to ensure data protection and confidentiality.
  • Manage audit and risk committee agenda, minutes and reports with high compliance responsibilities, ensuring adherence to legislative requirements.
  • Provide expert advice on governance, information management and compliance matters to inform the four-yearly council plan development program.
  • Drive digital transformation in document and information management, enhancing operational efficiency and reducing risks.
  • Ensure emergency management regulations and corporate security are maintained at all times.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Legal or Local Government, or extensive experience in local government administration.
  • Strong understanding of local government operations, governance and risk management principles.
  • Extensive experience in interpreting legislation, best practices and policy development, with proven leadership skills in managing governance, privacy and information management teams.
  • High-level research, analytical and financial management skills, with ability to provide sound advice on governance and compliance matters.
