Job Title: Consultant Anaesthetist

We are seeking a specialist anaesthetist to provide high-quality anaesthesia services and work within the bounds of commonly accepted good clinical practice and ANZCA guidelines.

  • Provide clinical and administrative anaesthesia services, conduct acute pain service ward rounds, pre-anaesthetic assessment clinics and anaesthesia for endoscopy, general surgery, orthopaedics, obstetrics, gynaecology, urology, ophthalmology, Ear Nose and Throat, dental and investigative services for patients.
  • Participate in after-hours and weekend on-call roster for the Department of Anaesthesia.

This position will primarily be located in Rockhampton or Gladstone but may provide anaesthesia assistance for cover to Biloela and Emerald Hospitals as required.

About the Hospital
  • Rockhampton Hospital is a 305-bed facility and is the main referral hospital for Central Queensland, providing integrated cancer care services.
  • The operating theatre complex is supported by an 8 bed ICU/HDU.

The hospital provides great care for obstetrics, gynaecology, orthopaedics, general surgery, urology, ENT, ophthalmology, gastroenterology and dental procedures.

Requirements
  • Applicants must be registered as a specialist with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Be a Fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College for Anaesthetists (FANZCA) or equivalent as an overseas trained specialist who has completed their training in either the UK, Ireland, Canada, USA or New Zealand.
