Facilities Maintenance Role

Casual facilities maintenance position available with flexible hours, approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and address facilities needs within Stepping Stone House homes/refuges.
  • Perform routine maintenance on buildings and facilities.
  • Conduct minor repairs (plumbing, electrical, carpentry).
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory of tools and supplies.
  • Assist in renovation and improvement projects.
  • Coordinate emergency repairs and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with staff to identify facility needs.
  • Implement cost-saving measures.
  • Oversee maintenance and servicing of vehicles.
  • Manage vehicle registration and compliance.
  • Train and supervise drivers on safe driving practices.
  • Conduct safety inspections of vehicles.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.
  • Assist in the purchasing and sale of vehicles.
  • Report fleet issues to management and recommend improvements.
Leadership and Values:

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience in general handyperson or maintenance roles.
  • Trade qualifications in carpentry, electrical, or plumbing (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to building maintenance.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage maintenance schedules and fleet servicing.
  • Familiarity with vehicle maintenance and fleet management processes.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with staff, contractors, and external service providers.
  • Capacity to respond promptly to emergency repairs and maintenance needs.
  • Working with Children certification.
  • Driver's license.
