Principal Tailings Engineer

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Tailings Engineer to join our team at Geoscience Ireland. As a key member of our mine waste management team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership on a wide range of tailings facility and water dam projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical advisory services on tailings facility and water dam projects, including design, construction, and operation.
- Lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
- Develop and implement effective quality and risk management processes to ensure client satisfaction and project success.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects, including geotechnical site investigations, slope stability assessments, and dam safety inspections.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues to ensure effective communication and project delivery.
- Stay up-to-date with local and global tailings standards and guidelines, and apply this knowledge to ensure compliance and best practice.
Requirements:
- Minimum 10 years of experience in tailings engineering, with a strong background in geotechnical engineering and mine waste management.
- Registered Professional Engineer, or eligible to register immediately.
- Proven track record of leading and managing projects, with a strong focus on quality, risk management, and client satisfaction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of local and global tailings standards and guidelines, including ANCOLD, ICOLD, GISTM, and CDA.
