About the Role
The Aboriginal Health Team Supervisor plays a pivotal role in strengthening ties between First Nation communities and Grampians Health mainstream and Mental Health Services. This position oversees the Aboriginal Health Team, supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients across various health settings, and promotes culturally safe care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide specialist cultural assessment, intervention, and advocacy for GH clients who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander.
- Facilitate the smooth transition of patients through the health service system.
- Liaise with Ballarat and District Aboriginal Co-op (BADAC) and other community-controlled and Government departments to facilitate care planning.
- Provide a supervisory role within the Aboriginal Health Team and the organisation, supporting the First Nations Health Advisor to enhance team building and excellence.
- Participate in the development of services that are accessible to clients of GH with the greatest potential for impact, ensuring equitable and effective support for those in need.
- Maintain constructive and effective working relationships with the Regions ACCHOs: BADAC, Budja Budja, and Goolum Goolum, and the wider community network.
- Assist in driving the Reconciliation Action Plan deliverables within the AHLO team.
