Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Solar Energy Project Engineer to join our team in Canberra. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the development of engineering designs for solar PV plants, including pre-design, basic engineering design, and executive project management.



Responsibilities:

  • Execution of engineering development and design in various stages, ensuring technical feasibility and compliance with EDPR standards.
  • Challenge technical standards applicability and verify deviations to ensure project solvency and efficiency.
  • Implement innovative engineering processes and maintain databases for CapEx estimation and contractor/supplier engagement.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, coordinating with external engineering companies and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Coordinate and validate studies (collector system, roads design, foundation design, noises) for integration into engineering projects.
  • Contribute to relationships with suppliers and providers to incorporate efficient technical and economical options into engineering designs.
  • Ensure application of common standards in studies and projects, adapting to local regulations to avoid non-justified deviations and maximize investment efficiency.
  • Provide technical support to internal teams during the project life cycle, attending to technical-economical and/or construction needs.
  • Represent EDPR interests in matters relating to its jurisdiction.


Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will require:



  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years' experience in planning, engineering, and design of projects for PV Plants, BESS plants, substations, and high-voltage lines.
  • Experience in permitting processes, wind farm projects, coordination and delivery of engineering projects, and coordination of external engineering companies.
  • Renewable energy and/or power utility experience is preferred.
  • Knowledge of PV & BESS plant planning, design, and engineering, as well as power transmission systems, medium and high voltage substation electrical equipment, underground distribution systems.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, including strong report writing abilities.
  • User-level proficiency in office software and knowledge of Power System software are advantageous.

Estimated Salary:

$100,000 - $120,000 per annum, depending on experience.
