The Azure Global Black Belt (GBB) Apps Innovation Specialist Manager serves as a pivotal leader within our enterprise sales division. This role is responsible for leading, developing, and overseeing a team of accomplished Azure App Innovation Specialists, aimed at driving revenue and expanding market share by executing strategic sales initiatives focused on modernizing existing applications through the Azure platform and services, as well as creating AI Cloud Native applications utilizing Microsoft’s application innovation technologies.

This position offers flexibility, allowing for up to 75% remote work.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership:
  • The Specialist Manager is a senior sales leader with profound technical knowledge and extensive business acumen. This unique combination equips our leaders to effectively convey the advantages of Microsoft's App Innovation portfolio to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • To catalyze growth in the App Innovation sector, this role necessitates the ability to evaluate the market landscape, pinpoint unique business opportunities, devise a comprehensive sales strategy, and motivate the team to execute with excellence.
  • As a market influencer, the Specialist Manager possesses a broad understanding of technology trends, market dynamics, and industry necessities. They cultivate strong relationships with key partners to extend the team's sales and technical capabilities.
  • Engagement with Area Sales and Marketing is crucial to establish a cohesive sales strategy. This role drives growth planning for App Innovation and serves as the primary representative for App Innovation business discussions.
Sales:
  • Guide sales teams to propel the Apps Innovation Advanced Workload business to exceed revenue, consumption, and performance targets.
  • Enhance the Solution Sales and technical skills of team members to effectively communicate the business outcomes of the broader Apps Innovation Workload.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration among the sales team and other departments involved with customer engagement (e.g., partners, services, Customer Success, engineering support).
  • Maintain the sales pipeline and forecasts to meet operational standards.
  • Drive new business initiatives to meet targets, positively impacting relevant subsidiary performance metrics.
  • Ensure a robust qualified pipeline is established by workload/solution.
People Management:
  • Build a high-performing team by recruiting diverse talent, prioritizing professional development, leading by example, and preparing individuals for advancement within the organization.
  • Coach team members with a "challenger mentality," encouraging them to engage proactively and provide new insights to enhance customer business.
  • Recognize and reward successful teams and individuals within the sales organization and at corporate levels.
Customer Focus:
  • Lead from the front, engaging directly with CxO-level executives to support and guide teams in opportunity identification and acceleration.
  • Guide sales teams to deliver comprehensive business solutions, enhancing customer and partner satisfaction and increasing average deal sizes year over year.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure customer intent to adopt cloud services.
Partner Collaboration:
  • Integrate Microsoft solutions with partner offerings, leveraging synergies to expedite and enhance deal sizes.
QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent job experience with 10+ years in sales, sales management, or business strategy. Global experience leading diverse and remote teams is essential.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in sales management, complex sales training, and consultative selling are preferred.
  • Additional training in Enterprise Architecture is advantageous.
Professional Experience:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Proven experience in Enterprise sales and demonstrated leadership capabilities to inspire a diverse team of Sales and Pre-Sales Professionals.
  • In-depth understanding of:
    • Apps Innovation Advanced Workloads and their business implications.
    • The needs of global enterprise customers.
    • Microsoft's commercial cloud offerings, including Azure App platform and Dev Tools.
    • Competitors and related ecosystems.
    • Sales methodologies and technologies that drive effective sales prospecting and management in complex environments.
  • Skilled in developing strong relationships and leadership connections to comprehend customer needs.
  • Adept at presenting innovative ideas that reshape perspectives on deriving value from Microsoft solutions.
  • Exceptional presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
Technical Expertise:
  • Technical enthusiasm: A passion for and experience with App Migration/Modernization to cloud, architectural design, and technology management. Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
    • Application development platforms on public clouds and/or Azure.
    • Scalable architectures utilizing PaaS/Managed services, serverless technologies, and microservice architectures.
    • Software development practices including DevOps and CI/CD tool chains such as GitHub.
    • Understanding of Data & AI technologies in the context of application development.
    • Familiarity with Low code platforms and technologies like Power Platform.
  • Knowledge of cloud development platforms.
  • Certifications: Azure Architect and/or Azure Developer are preferred.
