The Azure Global Black Belt (GBB) Apps Innovation Specialist Manager serves as a pivotal leader within our enterprise sales division. This role involves leading, nurturing, and managing a team of exceptional Azure App Innovation Specialists to enhance solution opportunity revenue and market presence by implementing the Apps Innovation sales strategies aimed at modernizing existing applications through the Azure platform and services, as well as creating AI Cloud Native applications and solutions utilizing Microsoft Application innovation technologies.

This position offers flexibility, allowing for up to 75% remote work.

Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership:
  • The Specialist Manager is a senior sales leader with extensive technical knowledge and rich business acumen. This unique combination enables our leaders to effectively convey the opportunities and advantages of Microsoft's App Innovation portfolio to customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
  • To facilitate the growth of the App Innovation business, this role requires a keen ability to evaluate the market landscape, identify unique business opportunities, formulate a comprehensive sales strategy, and motivate the team to execute with excellence.
  • As a market influencer, the Specialist Manager possesses a broad understanding of technology trends, market dynamics, and industry imperatives, fostering strong connections with key partners to extend the team's sales and technical reach.
  • Engagement with Area Sales and Marketing is crucial to create a cohesive and holistic sales strategy, driving growth planning for App Innovation and acting as the primary representative for App Innovation business discussions.
Sales:
  • Guide sales professionals to propel the Apps Innovation Advanced Workload business to exceed revenue, consumption, and performance targets.
  • Enhance the Solution Sales and technical capabilities of the sales team to articulate the business outcomes of the broader Apps Innovation Workload.
  • Ensure seamless collaboration among the sales team and other stakeholders engaging with customers (e.g., partners, services, Customer Success, engineering support).
  • Maintain the sales pipeline and forecasts to meet operational standards.
  • Drive new business opportunities to achieve targets positively impacting relevant subsidiary performance metrics.
  • Ensure a robust qualified pipeline is established by workload/solution.
People Management:
  • Build a high-performing team by recruiting diverse talent, prioritizing professional development, leading by example, and preparing individuals for more senior roles within the organization.
  • Coach sales professionals with a "challenger mentality," encouraging them to engage early and provide new insights on enhancing customer business.
  • Recognize and reward successful teams and individuals, both within the sales organization and at corporate levels.
Customer Focus:
  • Lead by example, personally engaging with CxO-level executives to support and coach teams on opportunity discovery and acceleration.
  • Guide sales professionals to deliver comprehensive business solutions, enhancing customer and partner satisfaction and increasing average deal sizes year over year.
  • Collaborate across teams to ensure customer intent to utilize cloud services.
Partner Collaboration:
  • Integrate Microsoft solutions with partner offerings, fully leveraging synergies to expedite and enhance deal sizes.
QualificationsRequired/Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent job experience. A minimum of 10 years of experience in sales, sales management, sales operations, or business strategy, with global/international experience leading diverse and remote teams.
Additional or Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certifications in sales, sales management, complex sales training, and consultative selling methodologies are preferred.
  • Additional training or education in Enterprise Architecture is preferred.
Professional Experience:
  • 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in Enterprise sales and demonstrated leadership in coaching and inspiring a diverse team of Sales and Pre-Sales Professionals.
  • Deep understanding of:
    • Apps Innovation Advanced Workloads and their business impact.
    • The needs of global enterprise customers.
    • Microsoft's commercial cloud offerings, including Azure App platform, Dev Tools, and Low code.
    • Competitors and related ecosystems.
    • Sales methodologies and technologies that drive effective sales prospecting and management in complex solution selling environments.
  • Exceptional relationship-building skills and leadership connections to comprehend customer needs.
  • Adept at presenting innovative ideas that reshape perspectives on deriving value from Microsoft solutions.
  • Strong presentation, whiteboarding, and communication skills.
  • Excellent negotiation abilities.
Technical Skills:
  • Technical enthusiasm: A passion for and experience with App Migration/Modernization to cloud, architecture designs, and technology management. Experience with one or more of the following is preferred:
    • Application development platforms on public clouds and/or Azure.
    • Scalable architectures utilizing PaaS/Managed services, serverless technologies, container orchestration, cloud-native & microservice architectures, and low-code technologies.
    • Software development practices such as DevOps and CI/CD tool chains like GitHub.
    • Understanding of Data & AI technologies in the context of app development.
    • Familiarity with Low code platforms and technologies such as Power Platform.
  • Competitive Landscape: Knowledge of cloud development platforms.
  • Certifications: Azure Architect and/or Azure Developer certifications are preferred.
