The Infrastructure Finance group offers a comprehensive suite of project finance and advisory services across various sectors, including digital assets, transport, grids, social infrastructure, energy transition assets, waste and water, and PPPs. This team is responsible for covering the APAC region from Sydney and Singapore, working closely with our TMT and Energy Plus Group teams.
Job DescriptionThe Director – Infrastructure will be accountable for:
- Contributing directly to the business in Asia Pacific, focusing on the Australian market.
- Leading the origination and execution of mandates to advise and/or arrange tailor-made finance transactions for clients.
- Introducing internal departments to clients or transactions, promoting cross-sales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and building relationships with target clients.
- Originating advisory and lead arranging roles in the Infrastructure and Digital Assets sectors.
- Overseeing the successful execution of advisory and arranging mandates through the entire lifecycle, including determination and negotiation of financing terms & conditions, due diligence management, credit application review, term sheet drafting, and loan documentation negotiation.
- Coordinating and working jointly with teams internally in the primary and/or secondary distribution of loans according to the agreed strategy.
- Managing cross-border transactions with teams based in Asia Pacific and globally.
- Monitoring and providing follow-up in client relationships, offering business line input on transaction monitoring and documented terms throughout their life cycle.
- Managing lending mandates from interaction with clients and advisors, reviewing and negotiating documentation, analyzing profitability, identifying risks, coordinating internal team support, and supervising the closing process.
- Maintaining a thorough understanding of current trends and developments in the Australian market.
- Nurturing a strong personal network of industry, client, and peer contacts.
- Actively participating in the training and development of junior staff within the business line.
Requirements include:
- A Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, or business studies, or a professional financial qualification.
- At least 10 years of structured finance experience, with a significant portion in Australia and the Infrastructure and Digital Assets sectors.
- Solid experience in project finance transactions, particularly in the Infrastructure and Digital Assets sectors, with advisory experience considered favorable.
- An established network of industry contacts in the Infrastructure and Digital Assets sectors.
- The ability to generate clear, structured, compelling, and comprehensive pitch material addressing clients' needs.
- Proactivity, results-driven attitude, and client focus, accompanied by strong ethics such as integrity and transparency, and a strong risk awareness.
- Ability to lead deal teams across various locations and develop junior staff.
- Capacity to build and maintain trusted client relationships in a lead role.
- Commercial acumen and persistence in addressing clients' needs.
- Proactive approach to developing business adapted to clients' and markets' needs.
- Ability to develop new client base, advisory, and products aligned with Societe Generale priorities and strategy.
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills with proven commercial know-how.
- Ability to work effectively in small teams and collaborate with teams based in different geographical locations.
- Capacity to manage self and juniors in prioritizing tasks and managing competing deadlines.
- Ability to deliver coherent messages to team members and other stakeholders.
- Proven ability to work in an evolving multicultural environment with diverse international backgrounds.
